With over a decade of experience providing environmental support to the construction sector, Simon is a dedicated environmental professional focused on embedding environmental performance, sustainability, and compliance within infrastructure projects. For more than six years, he has been an active member of the Association of Environmental Clerks of Works (AEnvCOW), where he currently leads the “Defining and Promoting the Role” strategy – shaping and elevating the profession’s profile across the UK.
Simon co-created the University of the West of Scotland’s Foundation Environmental Clerk of Works CPD course, designed to support the next generation of environmental professionals. Additionally, he co-authored the Heads of Planning Scotland’s Environmental Clerk of Works in the Planning System Position Statement – a key resource defining the role of EnvCoWs within planning and development frameworks.
As liaison between AEnvCOW and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), Simon plays a vital role in aligning professional standards, guidance, and advocacy efforts across institutions. Passionate about advancing environmental best practice, he continues to drive innovation and leadership within the field.
